Police: Deer Park woman charged after attacking boyfriend with machete at home

DEER PARK – A Deer Park woman was charged after police say she attacked her boyfriend with a machete at their home.

About 9:30 p.m. July 26, Lake County sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to a residence in the 22500 block of West Lake Cook Road, Deer Park, for a domestic battery in progress, according to a news release.

Deputies met with the victim, a 39-year-old man who had a serious wound to his head.

Preliminary investigation shows the victim’s girlfriend, Bophanary Om, 39, who lives at the same address, became upset that the man had urinated in bed, police said. She responded by retrieving a machete and striking the victim on the head with the machete. The victim was taken to an area hospital.

Om was charged with aggravated domestic battery, aggravated battery with a deadly weapon and two counts of domestic battery.

Om was being held in the Lake County Jail on $30,000 bail. She is next due in court Aug. 25.
