VERNON HILLS – A convenience store located in Vernon Hills sold a $16 million winning Lotto ticket in the Dec. 30 evening drawing.
The winning ticket was bought at Bucky’s Convenience Stores, 294 E. Townline Road in Vernon Hills, and matched all six numbers – 01 - 03 - 06 - 09 - 17 - 23 – to win the jackpot. The retailer will receive a bonus of $160,000, or 1% of the prize amount, for selling the winning ticket.
The Illinois Lottery urges the winner to sign the back of the ticket and keep it in a safe place until they either call the player hotline at 1-800-252-1775 or visit one of the Lottery’s five Prize Centers in Chicago, Des Plaines, Rockford, Springfield or Fairview Heights.
Winners have one year from the original drawing date to claim their prize.
More than 97,800 other prizes, ranging from $1 to $650, were won in that Lotto drawing. In all, players won $16,224,800 in the drawing.
Lotto drawings take place once a day, three days a week on Monday, Thursday and Saturday.
