INGLESIDE – Birds in my Neighborhood, a volunteer-driven program for grades 2 through 5, seeks adult volunteers to help students see nature in their community through the observation of birds.
The program is looking for Field Trip Support Volunteers to commit 5 to 10 hours each spring starting with a mandatory Field Trip training session then assisting with at least one field trip. Field Trip Support Volunteers assist the trained Volunteer Instructors by identifying birds and chaperoning students.
There are two Field Trip Support training sessions:
• 9 to 11:30 a.m. April 10. Field Trip Tutorial at Volo Bog State Natural Area in Ingleside; register by emailing email@example.com and giving name and phone number
• 9 to 11:30 a.m. April 16 at Palmisano Park in Chicago; register by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org and giving name and phone number
Birds in my Neighborhood is a partnership between Openlands and Audubon-Great Lakes and is funded through the U.S. Forest Service International Programs. The program exists in the Chicago Public Schools and two northern counties.
