LAKE VILLA TOWNSHIP – A Lake Villa Township man has been charged with aggravated battery after police say he bit his infant daughter because she would not go to sleep.
On March 11, the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services sent a notice to the Lake County Sheriff’s Office regarding possible child abuse occurring at a residence in the 38800 block of North Cedar Crest Drive, Lake Villa Township.
Sheriff’s detectives met with a family member and evaluated the 10-month-old girl. The baby had what appeared to be bite marks and bruises on her face and arms. Further investigation revealed that the child’s father, Daniel K. Martin, 31, of the 38800 block of North Cedar Crest Drive, Lake Villa Township, was responsible for biting the child out of anger because the baby would not fall asleep.
Martin was arrested and charged with felony aggravated battery to a child and two counts of misdemeanor domestic battery. He remains in the Lake County Jail on $50,000 bail. He is next due in court at 9 a.m. March 18 in courtroom T110.
