WAUKEGAN – The Lake County Sheriff’s Office announced the results of the 11-day Thanksgiving Traffic Safety Campaign. More than 190 citations were issued and arrests were made, according to a news release.
There were 100 seat-belt citations, five arrests for driving under the influence, one fugitive arrest, one arrest in connection with drug possession, 39 speeding citations and 45 citations for other traffic offenses.
The Lake County Sheriff’s Office joined forces with other state and local law enforcement and highway safety partners in the Illinois Thanksgiving Traffic Safety Campaign. The campaign was funded by federal highway safety funds administered by the Illinois Department of Transportation as part of the statewide Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over and Click It or Ticket campaigns.
