VERNON HILLS – Hawthorn School District 73’s Board of Education has scheduled a meeting for residents interested in becoming board members.
The meeting will take place at 6 p.m. Nov. 12 at the District Office, 841 West End Court, Vernon Hills.
The meeting is designed to allow community members an opportunity to talk with board members about the time commitment, challenges and rewards of being a member of a school board. Board duties and the election process will be discussed.
Four seats on the seven-member Board of Education for Hawthorn School District 73 will be filled in the April 2, 2019, election. Each of the seats will be for a four-year term, or until April 2023. Nomination petition packets are available at the Lake County Clerk’s office, or online at lakecountyclerk.info. The petition circulation period for the nonpartisan election is underway.
A school board candidate’s petition must be filed at the office of the Lake County Clerk, 18 N. County St., Waukegan, between Dec. 10 and no later than Dec. 17 during normal office hours.
Hawthorn School District 73 is a preschool through eighth-grade public school district serving more than 4,200 students.
It serves all or portions of the communities of Vernon Hills, Mundelein, Libertyville, Indian Creek and unincorporated areas of Lake County.
