WARREN TOWNSHIP – A Benton Township woman was being held in connection with a home invasion May 21 in Warren Township, police said.
About 1 a.m. May 21, Lake County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a residence in the 18500 block of West Main Street, Warren Township, for a reported home invasion.
Deputies found that three people had been robbed of their cellphones and money by three individuals, two armed with handguns, police said. One of the victims was struck in the face with a firearm by one of the men. The victim’s injuries did not require hospitalization.
Two of the offenders were described as being white or Hispanic men, both about 5-foot-5 in their late 20s or early 30s. One of the offenders was described as being a white or Hispanic woman in her 20s.
Detectives determined that the female offender was Laura R. Townsend, 22, of the 10700 block of West 17th Street, Benton Township. On May 24, they obtained an arrest warrant for Townsend for home invasion and residential burglary.
Townsend was arrested at her residence May 29 and taken to the Lake County Jail.
Detectives continue to try to identify the two men involved. They fled from the scene in a tan SUV, possibly a GMC.

Townsend was being held in the Lake County Jail on $200,000 bail.
