GURNEE – Simon, a global leader in premier shopping, dining, entertainment and mixed-use destinations, recently announced The RoomPlace is coming to Gurnee Mills.
The RoomPlace will open late this summer and join the nearly 200 outlet, value and full-line retailers at the center. The center’s latest new addition, Dick’s Sporting Goods, debuted at Gurnee Mills in May.
The RoomPlace – a Lombard-based total-room concept furniture store – will open at Gurnee Mills in a 45,000-square-foot space. It will be near Entry J, close to the Marcus Gurnee Theatres. With the opening of this newest location, The RoomPlace continues its strategic expansion into new markets, adding new jobs and helping to revitalize underserved areas.

Habitat Restoration announces Volunteer Days at Volo Bog Area
The Habitat Restoration and Stewardship Team has scheduled Volunteer Days for the new year. Volunteers are asked to come prepared and dressed for the weather. To register, call 815-344-1294.
The dates for Volo Bog State Natural Area are June 21 and 30; July 14 and 19; Aug. 11 and 16; Sept. 22 and 27; Oct. 20 and 25; Nov. 2, 8 and 17; and Dec. 1, 6, and 15. Volunteers are asked to meet at 9:30 a.m. in the Visitor Center, 28478 W. Brandenburg Road, Ingleside.
The dates for Moraine Hills State Park are July 17, Aug. 14, Sept. 25, Oct. 23, Nov. 6 and 20, and Dec. 4 and 18. Meet at 9:30 a.m. in the area past the Northern Woods Playground. Moraine Hills State Park is at 1510 S. River Road, McHenry.
Little Learners Preschool program open house to take place June 21
Learn about the Grandwood Park Park District’s Little Learners Preschool program at an open house from 5 to 7 p.m. June 21 at the school, 36630 N. Hutchins Road, Gurnee. Tour the school, meet the teachers, learn about the program and register for classes during the event. The school offers two classes: the class for 3-year-olds meets twice a week, and 4-year-olds and prekindergarten meets three times a week.
