WAUKEGAN – The Circuit Judges of the 19th Judicial Circuit have met and named the finalists for the associate judge vacancy. This vacancy is the result of an additional associate judgeship granted by the Supreme Court.
Chief Judge Jay Ukena has certified the names of Rhonda K. Bruno of Mundelein and Reginald C. Mathews of Lindenhurst to the Director of the Administrative Office of the Illinois Courts in Springfield. Bruno is a sole practitioner of criminal and family law. Mathews is the division chief of the Gang and Narcotics Division with the Lake County State’s Attorney Office. In a recent poll of the Lake County Bar Association, both candidates were recommended for the position.
The Administrative Office of the Illinois Courts will prepare the ballot containing the finalists’ names and mail them to all Lake County circuit judges. Each circuit judge will cast a secret ballot. After the votes have been tabulated in Springfield, Ukena will be notified of the results.
