WAUCONDA – The Lake County Coroner's Office has identified a 55-year-old Wauconda man who was found face-down Saturday morning in a drainage pond in an unincorporated Wauconda neighborhood.
An autopsy was performed on David Rutherford at 9 a.m. Monday, and results are pending toxicology results, according to a news release from Lake County Coroner Howard Cooper.
Rutherford's body was found near the 2800 block of Garland Road, lying face-down in a shallow point of about a foot of water about 9:45 a.m. Saturday, Sgt. Sara Balmes of the Lake County Sheriff's Office said.
Someone who lived near the pond found Rutherford, who was dressed in shorts.
"We don't believe there is anything for residents to be concerned about," Balmes has said. "It doesn't appear to be anything criminal."
