LONG GROVE – A 78-year-old Arlington Heights woman was killed Jan. 4 in a two-vehicle crash along Route 83.
About 11:15 p.m. Jan. 4, a Lake County Sheriff’s Deputy on patrol discovered a serious traffic crash on Route 83 just north of Route 22 in Long Grove, according to a news release.
Police said a 2004 Jeep Liberty, driven by a 78-year-old woman from Arlington Heights, was traveling north on Route 83. For an unknown reason, she lost control of the vehicle, crossed the center median and struck a southbound 2015 Subaru Outback driven by a 62-year-old woman from Vernon Township.
The driver of the Jeep was not wearing a seat belt and was ejected from the vehicle. She was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the Subaru was taken to Advocate Good Shepherd Hospital in Barrington with injuries not considered life-threatening.
The crash remains under investigation by the Lake County Sheriff’s Office Technical Crash Investigations Unit. The Lake County Major Crash Assistance Team also assisted.
