‘Soul Sisters’ at Clockwise Theatre spirited, thoughtful
Playwright Joanne Koch says “Soul Sisters,” the musical she co-wrote in 1997, “found a home where it was done beautifully and right. “ That home is Clockwise Theatre, a relatively new production house in downtown Waukegan where “Soul Sisters” opened Oct. 19, with Koch attending.
Koch is correct – the show was done beautifully and the two women chosen to portray the main characters were a perfect fit.
Koch and the now deceased Sarah Blacher Cohen wrote the musical, which is more of a play with some lovely and occasional belt-it-out type songs, rather than a big show production.
