Students participate in autumn TSC Pass-in-Review

Support Center (TSC), Great Lakes held its biannual Pass-in-Review ceremony on Ross Field at Naval Station Great Lakes Oct. 11.
The pass in review is a long-standing military tradition that began as a way for a newly assigned commander to inspect his troops. Visiting officers and guest speakers are also invited to review the sailors.
As the Navy celebrates its 237th birthday, Reviewing Officer Capt. John T. Dye, commanding officer, Recruit Training Command, reminded the students of their important role in the Navy.
“The warrior characteristics of cunning and boldness exhibited in 1812 inspire the sailors of today’s Navy, a Navy which these sailors have just become a part of, as they learn their craft here before departing to serve around the world,” Dye said.
More than 1,300 in attendance, including just over 50 distinguished military and civilian guests, observed the ceremony from the reviewing stand including TSC Commanding Officer Capt. Peter R. Lintner; TSC Executive Officer, Cmdr. Olivia L. Bethea; and TSC Command Master Chief (SW) Robert K. Tomkins.
The event helps boost morale and provides students an opportunity to showcase their achievements, as reflected by the flags that each ship displays at the head of their marching formation.
