Woman walks to honor her mother

Lindsey Casillas was just 16 when her mother died of breast cancer at the age of 36. It was devastating,Lindsey said, for a girl that age to lose her mother.  Her brothers were even younger – one was a toddler and the other was in second grade.  Casillas said it took her years to come to grips with the loss. “I was a very angry teenager,” she said.

Today, at the age of 25 she is dedicated to educating others about the disease and honoring her mother. She does that by taking care of her health and that of her daughter's, as well as by walking in the annual

Making Strides Against Breast Cancer held each October at Independence Grove in Libertyville. The event is sponsored by the American Cancer Society, and is held  this year on Oct. 21 at Independence Grove, Libertyville..
