LifeSource, NSGL hold recognition luncheon
“Each of you has made a significant impact on other peoples’ lives through blood collection,” said Capt. Randy Lynch, commanding officer, Naval Station Great Lakes (NSGL), addressing attendees at the LifeSource and naval station blood program recognition luncheon on Sept. 6. “I thank each one of you for what you have done.”
Awardees were honored at the event for their commitment through their blood donations and volunteerism.
Awards were presented by Cmdr. Robert Sullivan, NSGL executive officer, Victoria Roge LifeSource account manager, and Vanessa Chavez, LifeSource territory account manager. The awards included Humanitarian of the Year, Individual Service, Chair Person of the Year, Key Contributor, Eagle, Mission First, Meritorious Service, and Admiral’s Cup.
Roge expressed appreciation to Sullivan and to all personnel for “giving the gift of life.”
Great Lakes makes collections, multiple times each year, through two organizations, the Department of Defense and LifeSource, Lynch explained.
“This is a chance for the military to give back to the community that supports us each and every day,” he said. “LifeSource can get blood to wherever it’s needed.”
