The Great Outdoors: Of whistle blowers and fishing

I try to keep away from controversy as much as possible. I have, though, recently had the opportunity to interview a couple of people on my radio show that had stories to tell in which I believe they faced totally unfair situations that were forced upon them. I thought their stories were worth a mention.

Robert M. Danno is the author of “Worth Fighting For: A Park Ranger's Unexpected Battle against Federal Bureaucrats & Washington Redskins Owner Dan Snyder.” His story is not close to the usual topics of hunting and fishing that I normally cover, but when I was contacted, I found his tale to be so unfair, I felt I needed to give it exposure.

Danno was a career ranger for the National Park Service. He was the recipient of many awards and was always rated highly in his job which took him to parks all over the country. In 2005, Danno began living a nightmare.
