'Trailer Park Musical' offers heartfelt fun

CHICAGO – “The Great American Trailer Park Musical,” now playing at Theater Wit under the direction of John D. Glover, is, if anything, a spoof with heart.

The two-act musical comedy, written in 2004 by David Nehls (music and lyrics) and based on a book by Betsy Kelso, is set in Starke, Fla., at the Armadillo Acres Trailer Park.

Familiar trailer trash-type humor comes out in full force. And the storyline features road kill, strippers, hysterical pregnancy and strained relationships among the park’s tenants.
