The Lake County Fair Grounds held a female only 5K “The Dirty Girl Mud Run” on June 30. The event was non-competitive and offered a non-intimidating environment for woman of all ages and abilities.
    The 11-obstacle course designed by an elite Army Ranger, was tough but manageable. There were individual and team races with several different prize categories. Approximately 8,000 women participated with groups beginning the course every 15 minutes from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m.
    PSD Great Lakes’ very own Yvonne Scisney, Jacqueline Baldwin, Judith Schmit and Rachel Andrew participated in the event.
    Their participation helped raise money for the National Breast Cancer Association for breast cancer research.
