Recruits hold ceremony to honor the fallen

Recruits from the command’s Special Programs Division, Ship 4, met the challenge handed to them by AMCS Allison Brennan earlier this month.
The Special Programs’ leading chief petty officer from Fayetteville, N.C., asked the recruits to come up with a plan on July 4th to remember and honor servicemembers who had fallen.
The senior chief explained that some of the recruits had physical injuries, “And were stuck with nothing to do,
“I gave them an insert from the Navy Times Memorial Day issue with the faces and names of those who were killed in Operation Enduring Freedom,” Brennan said.
She asked SR Jamilla Johnson to serve as the LPO of the day and to pick two males and two females and plan something to remember the fallen. That’s all I told her,” Brennan said. “I spent the morning with her performing uniform inspections to build up her confidence.
“They came up with a great idea, and did a ceremony all on their own, which included flag-folding, speeches, and the Sailors Creed. Thirteen of them read out the names of the fallen.
